Acupuncture is a technique for balancing the flow of energy or life force — known as chi or qi (chee) — believed to flow through pathways (meridians) in your body. By inserting needles into specific points along these meridians, acupuncture practitioners believe that your energy flow will re-balance. In contrast, many Western practitioners view the acupuncture points as places to stimulate nerves, muscles and connective tissue. Some believe that this stimulation boosts your body's natural painkillers.
Each practitioner who performs acupuncture has a unique style, often blending aspects of Eastern and Western approaches to medicine. Acupuncture at Whole Therapy is performed by our Registered Physiotherapists.

What is Shamanic Healing?

Personalized sessions that address physical, emotional, and spiritual imbalances. Utilizing traditional techniques such as soul retrieval, energy clearing, and spiritual journeys; facilitation of profound healing and restoration.

What is Reiki? - (Rei: Universe or Universal Spirit, Ki: Meaning Vital Life Force or Energy)

Reiki is identified as a Universal Energy, meaning everyone can obtain reiki and use reiki for healing purposes. Reiki is a Japanese form of energy healing that is an alternative holistic approach to therapeutic treatment/practices. This is a hands-on practice where the practitioner acts as a conduit for the Reiki Energy to flow through them to heal others or themselves and is used to help the body through its ability to heal itself.

Although I have been an environmentalist in some capacity since before I can remember and have increasingly incorporated environmental principles into several aspects of my life, I have to admit that I thought little about food and food sources, despite the fact that they are directly connected in so many ways. I came from a time, and a socio-economic reality, where you did not question what was put on your plate, you were only grateful there was something there at all. These last few years however, I have learned more about the impact of food on health, the challenges we are all facing as a society to nutritionally feed ourselves and our families, and the direct co-relation of the health of our environment and our own health.

I also learned about great pain and adversity when my youngest son suffered an acquired brain injury (ABI) in 2019 that affected our whole family greatly and impacted every aspect of our lives. I saw firsthand the importance of good quality food to not only support optimal health, but to also equip us with a reserve to be more resilient to life’s challenges, and to support the body’s efforts to recover from injury. Only during this experience was the importance of nutrition truly recognized. This is where the journey of One Whole Life began.

My interest in nutrition, and the impact of proper nutrition on overall health, was sparked in March 2020. Despite several recommended approaches to support our son with his ABI, our current medical system offered little relief for the symptoms he was suffering from.

Relentless as I am for finding a solution to any problem, after 13 months of searching, attempting, and failing several treatments under the direction of modern western medicine, we visited a Naturopathic Doctor. Within a few weeks of incorporating her recommended changes into our son’s diet, he finally started to see improvements. I was shocked, but also incredibly saddened by how long it took us to get here, and how much our son had to suffer for something that was right there, within reach, and so simple! With just a few simple nutritional changes, hope was restored. I vowed from that point forward to do whatever I could to help other families avoid having to go through such a traumatizing experience.

And so, it began! I immediately immersed myself with as much self-learning as possible and by March 2021, was registered in the Natural Nutrition program with the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition. I very quickly realized this was the path I was intended to be on, so I took leave from my successful 16-year career with the Federal Government, fast-tracked the completion of my program, and successfully graduated as a Registered Holistic Nutritionist™ (R.H.N.) in Ontario, ready to serve my community, by the fall of 2022.

I love my job because: I get to help improve the quality of peoples lives by helping them move better, and to be a more pain-free version of themselves. I get to help people to become able to experience more things in life. I get to help them get to a physical level that maybe they didn’t think they could get to, to get them back into the sports they didn’t think they could play. I get to help them lose weight and feel better about themselves, I get to empower them, teach them to know how they can manage their bodies and that health and fitness is not this crazy mystical thing that only certain people can achieve.

See me if: I want to see everyone about everything ha-ha! My insatiable desire for knowledge doesn’t allow for anything else. It doesn’t matter if you’re an athlete with a broken ‘piece’, if you’re just learning to run and you need guidance, or if you’re someone who’s been injured, and you don’t feel like yourself anymore. Even if you just have a general question, please come find me. People who already work with trainers or who have in the past, if you’ve been frustrated with lack of progress; these are just a few of the things I’d love to and can help you with.

I believe: People can take control of their bodies. That the ability to both understand and manipulate their bodies to create a better quality of life for themselves is 100% possible for anyone and everyone!

I love my Job because:

Massage Therapy is the best! Helping those in need has always been something that has been drawn to me and helping create a treatment plan to help my clients get back to their activities of daily living is something that is super appealing to me.

As someone who has done a lot of different jobs, working with my hands has always been my strong suit. Massage therapy allows both of these things to come together in the best way, so I truly believe I have the best job ever.

See me if:

You would like to start on your journey towards feeling like yourself again.

I have treated many clients who were in pain for so long they forgot they were hurting until after receiving treatments.

As a volleyball player, I understand what it’s like to injure an important joint and want to get back to playing as soon as possible. I would love to help you get started on your journey back to feeling like yourself including any recent injuries or chronic pain.

I have worked with all ages/physical wellness including pediatrics, chronic pain and athletes so don’t be shy.

I believe in:

Working with you as much as possible to create a treatment that is tailored to your needs. I believe in empowering the client and making sure you are an active participant in planning out your treatment.

It’s important to take care of our bodies in the same way we would take care of another.

I love my job because:

I worked in warehousing for over a decade. I found this work to be very unfulfilling and both mentally and physically exhausting.  Since I was young I’d always known I wanted to help people, but life circumstances led me in a different direction. I left my last career with a desire to help people and be more fulfilled. I am happy I get to help my clients achieve a better quality of life by decreasing stress, increasing relaxation, and providing therapy to people with health conditions or new and old injuries.

See me if:

You need to relax or de-stress. I also enjoy working with individuals of all ages that may have had a recent or previous injury. I have experience treating people with chronic pain, palliative care patients, reducing scars from surgery or injuries, post-concussion, and a variety of other conditions.

I believe in:

Treating and viewing the body as a whole. A lot of pain can come from muscular imbalances and posture compensations. By identifying the structures that may be contributing to a person’s pain, we can begin to decrease the pain they experience and increase their quality of life.  I believe in strong communication. By using my knowledge, skills and experience, my clients and I work as a team to get them back to a functional level. This way, the pain or reduced mobility they experience does not prevent them from enjoying things like being more active, enjoying family and friends or have more confidence in being mobile.

I enjoy:

Being outdoors in nature. I find the quiet of nature is my happy place. Getting out of the city and away from the fast pace of life helps recharge my batteries so I can be the best I can be to both myself and my clients.

Love to treat: Deep Tissue, Acute injuries, Post-concussion

I love my job because:

I became very invested in growing my skill set by learning and understanding the body better through wanting to help family members suffering from multiple conditions. It fills my heart with warmth knowing that I get to make a difference and help so many individuals with their healing process. I take pride in guiding my clients to become more educated, healthy and mindful by expanding on where the pain is coming from and how we can fix it. Whether it’s through touch, making them bodily aware of their posture, guiding them into the right direction with home care or alleviating any pain/discomfort that may be affecting their active daily living. I can confidently say that there is nothing more rewarding than seeing all the smiling faces of clients that have experienced and feel the improvement.

See me if:

  • You are experiencing radiating pain or maybe just have an annoying ache that just won’t ease.
  • If you’re feeling tension, having difficulty having a good night’s sleep, or just need to reset after a long exhausting week.

Jen is not currently taking on new clients

I love my job because: I love to solve problems, and I find the human body fascinating. I became a personal trainer first, but I never knew how to deal with all of my clients’ sore knees, backs, and shoulders. I needed more education about the body and how it worked. Massage Therapy gave me the tools I needed to not only work the body out, but also to treat and prevent injuries. I graduated in 2006, and I still love every minute!

See me if: You want to resolve your pain, maintain your muscles, and prevent future injuries. I like to help you understand what is going on with your body, and why it is happening. Helping you gain clarity and insight into your body’s language not only empowers you in your own body, but it also helps you prevent future injury and pain.

I believe: That pain-free is absolutely possible. As well, massage doesn’t have to hurt to work. In order for muscles to release, there has to be oxygen flowing, and one must be able to relax. If the pressure on the muscle is too intense, it’s counter-productive. My goal for my clients is to have them be a little tender after a massage… not feel like a truck ran them over.

Qualifications and Courses: Craniosacral Level 1 (2014) Reiki Practitioner (2005 & 2014) Selective Functional Movement Assessment (2013) Orthotics Level 1 (2013) Myofascial Release – Full Body (2012) Bachelor of Health Sciences (2012) Registered Massage Therapist (2006) Can Fit Pro Certified Personal Trainer (2000)

I love my job because: Helping others is what I love the most. As an elite level athlete, I have the understanding of how massage therapy fits into athletic therapy and training cycles. I also have experienced first hand severe whiplash and concussion. This unfortunate injury has allowed me to see through the eyes of my clients and provide them with a safe and nurturing environment to help them heal.

See me if: You want to alleviate headaches, maintain healthy muscle tissue and prevent further injury. Allow me to provide you with the knowledge and body awareness it takes to heal. Not only will I provide you with the tools to help you recover, but I will also work with you to help prevent future pain. I am a firm believer that motion is lotion, and that by inspiring you to work towards your own healthy life choices, that pushes me to be the best therapist that I can be.

I believe: That being mindful of our bodies will allow us to live a better, more well-rounded life. When we are aware and knowledgeable of what our bodies need, we can then work towards achieving optimal performance. Massage therapy allows us to feel and become aware of our needs, both in a general wellness and therapeutic setting. This is a great start to giving the body what it needs to be strong and healthy.
